I compensate for hair loss from chemo with Robert, who is an expert on almost everything. I found a wig topper which matched most of my hair but at the front hairline it was too dark. So Robert went in and did some more highlights around the front crown of my head and a few in the back to match. He did not insist and never does on cutting my hair and styling it. He just asked what I ask him to do because I know he will know, and I trust him implicitly. On the selfie I’m posting. I am the one that clipped it in a little bit too far back, but you can see by the cut and color that you can’t tell where my real heart starts and the wig topper ends.

Service was great per usual. I was a little surprised and disappointed to be charged almost half as much as my cut for your fee you include. I understand paying it when I get a color or a major cut. But coming in for a 19 dollar bang trim and getting charged an extra 8 dollars seems a little disappointing.

I walked in without an appointment. I was kindly offered two stylist options with different rates, so as to not feel pressured into the more expensive option. Robert was amazing all around. I wanted to donate my hair and he kindly helped me research an appropriate institution to which to direct my donation, and to confirm their specific requirements. He was careful and thorough regarding the hair to be cut for donation, and even more so regarding the final styling. I’m very happy with my new hair style. He was also very friendly and nice to chat with. Would definitely recommend!

My first time at the salon and I saw Marisa for my hair cut. I liked the energy of the salon, all of the plants and the complimentary beverages. I have curly hair and have yet to see a stylist who asked me as many questions about my hair as she did. I could tell she is passionate about her work and wants to make sure her clients are happy with the result and that she understands their wishes with their service and the outcome. I am personally not a talker during services and I loved that she asked just enough questions to get to know me but didn\'t pressure a conversation throughout the entire service, it made me feel like she is intuitive and knows how to individually make her clients feel comfortable and satisfied. Also I finally left a hair cut appointment without complete shock over how short they cut my hair without considering how much it would shrink up when it is curly. Top of the line services and the greastest staff. I have always struggled a lot with my hair and both Chloe amd Robert were able to help me figure out how to style it properly with the right technique. While I was getting my haircut I did experience anxiety ( I usually get very anxious during haircuts). Chloe and Robert did an amazing job at explaining the situation with my hair which eased my anxiety. I felt really good about my hair when I got home and saw it in the mirror ( I have a hard time seeing my hair in salons with the lighting conditions). I feel even better the day after because I applied the styling technique Robert taught me and it worked out amazingly well. I can honestly say I am very satisfied with my haircut which may be a first in my life. I have tried out many different barbershops and hair salons through the years and I can honestly say In my humble opinion that Apotheca is the BEST hair salon. I was even accomodated for being late due to severe weather.

Robert, who creates beautiful people at Apotheca is an authentic cosmetologist, an esthetician - like the true artists we used to have years ago. who could do magnificent things to make you look better than you could have even wished for; made you feel glamorous. Nowadays, there are those of us who tend tonthink of it now, sadly, as a thing of the past. In my last 7 yr back in the Central TX area, it’s like a freakin’ treasure hunt, kind of scary, knowing it’ll be someone you know won’t make you happy or look better, and……you have to be really nice to them so they won’t screw up your hair. Help! Well…..!!!….. you’ve found your next and last cosmetologist you will ever want or need at Apotheca in Robert. He can do it all, I ought to know. I’m 70, from LA where we refuse to look old, or, God forbid, tacky! A fate worse than death. We are truly lucky enough to know what “good” is. It’s just our culture. For example (me) if you are growing your hair out, Robert knows how to make your coloring look as if it should just look like that - very subtle- it all blends together - until you return. Now, that’s something most don’t know how to do. Robert is always the gentleman. Wish I had his hair. Sigh. Apotheca staff serves French-pressed coffee, other drinks, a comfortable area to sit in between each step of your process. He is, as you wd imagine, an intriguing man, always interested in the newest state of the art techniques! The quality of his work is evident in that it lasts a very long time - even if you couldn’t make it in for a while. You would never hear yourself say, “He missed a spot, grrr”. I’ll tell you why he is an artist. in 2019 I lost most of my hair after chemo/radiation. It grew back in the back.+ half in the front. Ugh.. I have not visited the same place twice around here in 5 (!) years since 2019, because I refused to return. I’m spoiled, for sure, but know better. I am still astounded that somehow the stars aligned, and I was introduced to Robert. Robert is helping me grow out my silver roots by working in several other tones, using his unique, original process. If he can make me look like I have hair from the crown forward by using color, no shiny skin where hair is missing, he is a magician. For the first time since 2019, I can wear my hair down, confident, with no wig topper, up in a pretend French roll, or need that powder root/skin color to cover up skin where hair should be. Robert is the kind of person you would travel to see if he ever moved. I’m sure you must know what I mean. I do that. I have not looked this good since I lived in New Orleans since 2010 and had given up hope. I don’t know what it is about this area. I mean, we have to go somewhere to get our hair done, but it’s like choosing your own method of torture- between the least-worst place or the “OMG I just give up.” It should be fun for us to walk in the door one way and walk out looking ‘Fabulous , dahling!’ Here Robert is + the Apotheca staff who understand customer service. You owe it to yourself to go. I think I’m worth it. Hope you think so, too. It’s a feel-good place…..

Bobby performed a complimentary consult with me about my sad, sad hair situation (as a walk-in!!). I could tell he knows his craft by the ways he talks about options and descriptions we would have regarding the journey (really) re taking my hair fr red-brown all the way back to silver so i could put in lowlights vs worrying frantically about how quickly my roots are going to grow out. What a pain. Bobby was very accommodating and I have a four hour appointment set within the next week for the first leg of my journey. He also saved me from myself. My idea was to take out the brown-red. It’s so happens that that is not the way you do it. So I’m allowing him to be the stylist and I am the client. He does know what he’s doing. I would recommend coming to see anyone at that salon. By the way, I was referred there by the Aveda Stylist for a corrective hair color process, extensions, haircuts, anything that was high-level. And I can tell they were right. Yay!!!

My appointment with Marisa was stellar! They checked in often about my preferences both while shampooing and during the haircut. As usual at Apotheca, I had a great experience. I LOVED how my hair turned out. Bella showed me easy styling tricks to use with my bangs as someone with coarse hair and a huge cowlick. My hair, as I age (in my early 50s) has been thinning, and she showed me how to style it in a way using hair products that would thicken it. Every time I go to Apotheca, it\'s been worth my time, energy and money. Whether with Irene, Hannah, and now Bella, I always learn new things to do with my hair, and most importantly, just friggin\' feel better about myself and how I present myself to the world. If you\'ve been meaning to get in some self-care time and want to look and feel better, I highly recommend the spacious and beautiful space that is Apotheca!

Nailed it! Oscar did an excellent job on cutting my hair and I am super grateful for his work. I was letting my hair heal from some dyeing and frying trauma over the years. When I booked the appointment as a first time client, (solely based on past client reviews), I did not know what to expect initially. But thankfully Oscar new exactly what he was doing. He really actually listened to what I was saying about what I wanted, and regarded my request for keeping the length on my hair, but also adding in layers and some body (And I am uper picky about who touches my hair!) Wow! What can I say about Apotheca and my stylist Samaia? The truth is that I could write a ton of overwhelmingly positive comments because it would be super easy to turn this review into a literal \"shower of praise\" for Samaia herself because I absolutely think that she is probably the greatest hair stylist/colorist in the universe. I recently relocated to Austin from some other part of the world and I was sort of nervous and feeling a little uncertain about having to find a new hair stylist after having the same person in San Francisco for the last nine years.... Flash forward and it\'s now three months later and I have been to Apotheca three times and each experience has been outstanding! First and foremost, I have to say that I got SUPER lucky to have been connected randomly with Samaia as my stylist/colorist for my first appointment.... She is such an amazingly genuine person and her demeanor and the attention that she gives toward the haircut experience is something that a stylist either feels naturally or they don\'t because you cannot really teach someone to have an engaging personality.... So Samaia has an incredibly engaging personality and she makes you feel comfortable immediately and then suddenly, before you can even comprehend it, your appointment is finished and your haircut and color is exactly what you wanted and it\'s time to cash out and go back into the world... And, full disclosure, this is the most difficult part of the appointment because Samaia is finished and I am wishing that there was still some more haircut stuff for her to do because I really don\'t want to give up the chair until I can finish telling her whatever story I\'ve been sharing with her throughout my appointment because the whole experience just feels so genuine... So anyway, to sum it up, outstanding haircut, outstanding color, captivating stylist, modern salon space where everyone from the receptionist to other guests waiting for their own appointment are super friendly.... and with all that the prices are reasonable and actually feel like I am getting some sort of discount every time because compared to the prices for the same services in San Francisco Austin is for more affordable and absolutely worth it.

I absolutely LOVE my hair. My stylist was Marisa and they did so good, I was offered water as soon as I walked in, they went super in-depth about what I wanted and I think that is part of what made my hair look exactly how I wanted it to! Since I was a first time customer I was offered testers of what they used on my hair, which I love so I’m not pressured into buying stuff on the spot! The environment is just wonderful, even seeing the other employees interact with their customers was joyful! They were having full on conversations and also going really in-depth about what they wanted. I really really love this place and 100% will be back.

I had a haircut with Megan, and I wanted a long shag with some noticeable layers. At other salons when I asked for more shape, they would say “Sure!” and then just snip all my split ends. MEGAN DELIVERED. Her service was wonderful, had a calm conversation throughout, and she never felt like she was pushing me towards products, I ended up taking home some mousse. It was a great experience!

My hair was long and in need of some revival. I asked to have a layered cut, do a few inches, and took the plunge into my first balayage! Monsé gave me the best haircut of my life, and a hydrating treatment really made my hair gel soft and supple. The balayage was awesome and interleaved seamlessly into my hair and really added that little bit of dimension I wanted. I had a follow up just to end up a little darker, but Monsé made me feel comfortable and took great care of me the whole time. 100% going back

They did a great job covering my new grays and cut off the yucky ends without sacrificing my hair length.
